SLATS- Why can’t you make the spouse the sole beneficiary during the lifetime of the Grantor?

This appears to be a limitation in how our Irrevocable Trust template was designed. The beneficiaries during the grantor’s lifetime are tied to those who have Crummey withdrawal rights, or if Crummey powers are not included, then the grantor’s spouse (if married) and descendants are automatic beneficiaries.
